Due to many people's request, I rewrite the interface in the current version1.1,
for the macs with 9" B/W monitor, without the requirement of color QuickDraw (version 1.0 requires that to run). I also fix a major bug in this release.
The version 1.1 use new icons for the application, please rebuilt desktop
(hold down Option+Command while restart your mac) to use the new icons.
I am going to make PianoSim a very well maintained program, please support
me by sending your registration fee ($25 is really nothing compared with how
much a commercial music program charges). Your help will be very appreciated.

PianoSim introduction:
Here is a new software called PianoSim I created for the Macintosh. It's
a music instrument simulation with full music input and edit ability. You
can use mouse click (sweep) or keystroke to play music real time. You can
choose your favorite instrument from a panel of choices, including piano,
bell, flute, guitar, sax... You can record your performance in real time
and save it as a file for future playback. The software has a full featured
editor, so you can edit and modify your performance. You can also just input
your favorite music and save it as a record, for future playback and
entertainment. The time duration of each note is accurate up to one tick
(1/60 sec), the music symbol shown doesn't change the exact time duration
embedded. You can control sound volume, play back speed (tempo), and pitch
of all the piano keys within two octave. You can personalize your
computerkey-pianokey correspondence and save your setting.
Several of my favorite music is provided, including Fur Elise, love story,
and a few Christmas carols. If you enter your favorite records, I'd love
to have a copy if you are willing to offer (if you don't like the record
to be included in future updates, please say so, I will honor your request).
The software can be fun for adult as well as for child. I'd be very happy
to know if you like it and have a good time with it.
PianoSim is distributed as shareware, and ask for $25 shareware fee. But
if you REALLY couldn't afford it, send me any amount you prefer. By sending
me your donation, you are helping me to obtain enough resource and
encouragement to write better software for the Macintosh. Your help will be
very apprecaited. Registered user will receive a Thank You letter together
with registration code to personalize your copy, and receive any future
updates free. Please only distribute unregistered copies.
PianoSim is tested on MacSE, Classic, II, IIcx, IIx, IIsi, IIci, IIfx, Quadra,
under system 7 and 6.0.4 up. Any bug reports, suggestions, comments, etc.
are all welcome. Thank you for your time and hope you have fun with PianoSim.
I am currently looking for a mac programming position (I am a Univ. of
Chicago graduate student getting my degree), if you have a job offer or
any information that may help, please contact me. I also wrote a game
for Macintosh called SpaceInvader!, which can be downloaded from
sumex.stanford.edu under info-mac/game directory. Have a try if you like games.
